You may have to pry the cup away from the caseing - the only other access I can think of might be removeing the screws from the bottom feet?
You can try to see a blown fuse or component but if it is a IC you will not be able to fix it. Bose will not allow schematics of there system, all repairs are thru the factory!
You can't even cross reference the individual components to try to backward engineer the things. You may be looking at a new system try the following:. First off, I had same problem with an old LifeStyle Series 12 and trying to get in to that case is like trying to get in to Fort Knox I found these answers on a forum.
I wanted to let you know I didn't not discover them myself but it worked for me. Also my fuse was bad I am off to the electrical supply house as soon as I finish typing. Without further ado:. You can find the 'plastic swivel tab with notches' by looking for gear teeth in the top rear of the unit. Remove the dial knobs. Now place the unit flat with the horn-side down. Literally use a tennis shoe to spank the plastic cover on the same side as the gear wheel in a 45 degree upward motion so the RCA plug holes in the plastic cover are dislodged from the jacks and the unit pops off.
Unscrew these and remove cable ribbons that attach circuit board to other pieces of the unit. The fuse is a cylindrical glass piece, 5mmx20mm. Mine was burnt and coils were missing, an obvious sign of a blown fuse.
Don't go to radio shack to find a replacement. They are seriously under-equipped to assist. Go online or to a real electrical supply store to get a 3Amp, Volt 5x20mm slowblow fuse. Don't try to call Bose either because this will inevitably result in more pain. If this advice helps you, do something nice to help a homeless or mistreated animal. Bose glues the box together when it is assembled at the factory. If it comes in damaged under warranty, their cost is minimal to replace the unit.Unv camera review
If it comes in out of warranty, their profit to simply replace the unit is still considerable. The owner can't prove it is just a fuse, so a non-repairable system is a fair diagnosis.
Since the Bose systems can only effectively operate with their own subwoofer, the owner is in a positioned most commonly referred to as "screwed" to the wall.
But those satellite speakers are nice and tiny. Small wonder Bose is the most well known speaker company in America. Even smaller wonder Amar Bose is a very rich man.Admittedly, I'm not a very handy guy and don't really have the time to get my sound system fixed myself. I have a Bose Cinemate S1R and the subwoofer ceased working, had it for about 4 years and this is the first time this issue has cropped up. Looked online and apparently blown fuses in Bose products maybe other sub woofers as well is quite a common thing.
Anyone know where to get this fixed?Mtg banned list
Found a few online but all seem to not be very trustworthy, and getting it fixed by Bose would probably lead me up to a hefty bill. If anyone has experiences with getting hifi fixed and whether I should just get myself a new one, would be happy to hear any suggestions. Fair remarks, will give it a shot since it's not working anyways. Might be good learning a thing or too. If you decide to have a go and it's a common problem, it's likely people will have found the solution and posted it on forums and the like.
If it really is just a blown fuse, just look for one on the circuit board. If the fuse is blown, the wire in the middle of the fuse will be burned off sort of like a blown incandescent globe.
Just buy one of the same gague number on the fuse and you'll be good. Jaycar will have them, but eBay is probably cheaper.
HiFi equipment can be a bit iffy with these things. I've had a few amplifiers just die after a blackout that were revived with a new fuse or hard reset. Hmm that is theft for replacing a fuse! Are there any obvious screws on it? Open it up and post some photos. A fuse will be obvious. It is usually rare that Subwoofers blow fuses it is not impossible however I have had a quick glance on the Manual.
There is no fuse panel that is visible from what I can see. Is it worth replacing if that is the case? Don't waste your money and buy another.

Every Bose sound system equipped C-4 uses one amplifier per speaker. This is the weak link. Amplifier capacitors are filled with electrolytic fluid which ultimately leaks out onto the circuit board causing failure.
Electrolytic fluid is acidic and will corrode anything it touches. It is common to have multiple amplifier failures at one time.
In most situations, you suddenly lose sound from a particular speaker. There have also been situations where all amplifiers fail.Sound questions for grade 4
If one or two speakers stop working, check the amplifiers. When the radio receiver fails all sound output will be lost. There are some differences in the early and late C-4 receivers. Early models have integrated radio control head and receivers, while later models have a separate receiver.
How to Replace a Subwoofer Fuse
Some failed receivers will result in a cessation of sound output. The radio head is only for controlling the receiver and to play CD or cassettes. The sound bites go to the receiver for output to speakers. There are simple tests that can be performed to check the integrity of the amplifiers. If all speakers go out at once, the Bose relay should be checked first.

The relay has also been known to cause a dead battery from time to time. The amplifiers should be inspected for dark staining of the circuit board, any burnt wires, or an odor of burnt plastic. If the door drain is not working, the enclosure can be submerged, allowing water to seep inside. The enclosure is sealed, but if it has been opened and the gasket was damaged, even rain water may seep inside through a bad outside seal strip.
Severe radio receiver water damage may also occur from a leaking rear hatch window in Corvettes. In some cases, the receiver is submerged in the compartment. Speakers can be tested with an AA 1. The receiver output can be checked with a voltmeter for varying current output to make sure the amplifier is receiving a signal.
If adjusting the radio control knobs on cars produces static or noise, the radio has a problem, not the speakers or amps. In some cases, just touching the control knobs causes static. The front speaker enclosure is under the sill cover and requires sill removal to access. The cover sticks to the sill so care must be taken during removal. Slowly lift one side of the cover so the bond can loosen from the sound deadener.
Try to avoid getting the sound deadener material on your clothes or skin because it is difficult to remove. You can repair or replace the amplifiers one at a time.
If you are repairing the original amplifiers, you may want to do them all to avoid further circuit board damage.A mounting stand for the Bose F1 Model Flexible Array Loudspeaker is integrated right into the body of the subwoofer, so you always know where it is, making setup fast and easy. The eight drivers on the F1 Model flexible array are mounted on a specially designed flexible baffle that is hinged in two locations.
